Ascending the Tiger’s Nest, Paro, Bhutan

October 31, 2025

Hello from Paro, Bhutan. A calm town with dramatic landscape. It was rainy, but we were undaunted. We climbed the Tiger’s Nest (a hanging series of Buddhist Temples), scaling the steep path in the downpour, covering about 2000 vertical feet — according to my watch — in a bit more than an hour, rising to over 900 feet. We decided against the final 1000 foot ascent. We simply hadn’t had enough time to acclimate since we hard arrived in Bhutan at sea level only two days earlier. The clouds cleared at last and gave us a view of all 13 great temples. A unique experience.
