3 Great Reads To Get You Through the Holidays

Greetings!

It’s that time of year and we know how busy you are. We’ve been busy too — making some serious improvements to our website. Here’s what we’re up to. Cyn and I have now been traveling over 400 days as we explore our way through all seven continents, never by jet. The thing is, we’ve seen far more than we’ve been able to share so far, and I am determined to do better. With this re-jiggered Vagabond-Adventure.com website, that’s the plan. After all that’s what this journey is all about, right? Giving you a ground floor view of the world’s beauty, complexity and diversity, and do my best to bring it alive for you. It’s been a goal of mine from the beginning.

But what’s the best way to do this? Books, of course, but those come later. Right now the new Vagabond-Adventure will provide more access to our misadventures, the locations we have explored, the fascinating people we’ve met, the great stories we’ve come across and the images of the startling and incomparable places we have been privileged to see. It will also deliver a better way for all of you to share with the rest of us YOU’RE thoughts and reactions and personal travel experiences.

Let us know what you think. We welcome all improvements.

In the meantime …

Crack on!

Chip & Cyn (aka C-Squared)

PS: If you’re enjoying what we’ve been sharing, please pass the word along (vagabond-adventure.com) to others you think will enjoy it too. The more the better!

New Vagabond Website Info …

  • REACH is no longer a membership area. We wanted to make it easier to read and comment on the stories in our Reach Library without needing to become a member. You can explore our growing library here anytime. Have an article you’d like to share? Drop me an email.

  • REACH has been expanded and reorganized with growing content in History, Culture, and Mystery and will incorporate more stories drawn directly from the Vagabond Adventure.

  • A holiday deal for anyone who signs up for the newsletter or is already on our list. You’ll find a promotional code in your newsletter, good until December 15, 2022. New subscribers to the newsletter will get the promotional code in their Welcome email so keep your eyes peeled.

If you also follow our Adventure on Facebook and Instagram, stay tuned for some changes coming soon.

Now … Three Great Reads for December

Yes, it’s the holidays, and that means crazy has arrived! But you owe yourself some down time. Here are three great articles to cozy up to by the fire and take a breath!

Traveling is wonderful, but there are some places you simply can’t explore because time has left them behind. Luckily we have writers, adventurers and books. Over the years I’ve read a few. These are my 10 favorites. Each one changed the way I looked at the world. My guess is they’ll change your life too.

There are digital versions of two of these in the Vagabond Adventure Store (we won’t spoil which ones!)

The mysterious behavior of the most remarkable molecule in the universe…

Water is odd because its molecules have an abiding affection for one another. They bind in a V-shape as easily as three good friends. At the bottom of the V, the oxygen end is slightly negatively charged. At the other end, the hydrogen molecules are positively charged, also just slightly. This is why water is fluid, flowable, because its negative and positive charges easily attract its sister molecules as if in a great dance, changing partners billions of times in a blink.

A look back at an epic film shot on at an epic location…

45 years later, Close Encounters of the Third Kind still entertains and thrills audiences. It’s a sci-fi classic with an epic, landmark location that audiences never forget. Steven Spielberg’s choice of Devils Tower for the finale of Close Encounters of the Third Kind remains one of modern cinema’s biggest, mind-blowing final reel moments.

Select From the Vagabond Adventure Store

Looking for a gift this holiday season? Check out the Vagabond Adventure Store. How about a Travel the World shirt or notebook? Or it’s easy to pick up digital versions of great adventure books like South and The Worst Journey in the World (chosen by National Geographic as the greatest adventure book ever). Read my own list of Great Adventure Books. Or consider a copy of one of my books. I have easy to download digital versions and a few signed copies in hardback.

BONUS: Sign up to our email newsletter (check your Welcome email) to get 15% off until December 15.

Stay tuned by way of Polar Steps, Vagabond Adventure Dispatches and REACH as we continue to get into more trouble.
