Day 686 - Kotor, Montenegro
A Short Visit through Kotor
The Bay of Kotor is spectacular, but we did not spend more than a night there. We caught a local bus that took us to our Airbnb, very nice, where we stayed the evening so that the next morning we could catch a bus across the border into Albania and its capital city, Tirana. It was way out of the way but the only part that would get us to Corfu Greece and farther south. These are the perils of traveling never by jet.
We did have time to grab a bite to eat for dinner. Beef and steak seem to be the big draw in the city for reasons that aren’t clear to me. You’d think we were in Argentina. There is a wonderful, truly gargantuan castle in Kotor, an old part of the city right out of Game of Thrones. Citadels, a castle keep, plazas with restaurants and several churches all within the battlements. After strolling through the evening, we headed back to our Airbnb to awaken the next morning to a bus ride, that would take us clear across Albania.
