Reach: A Refreshing Way to See the World and Its People

Reach Out, Reach Back, Reach in, Reach Up

Editor’s Note: Since publication, REACH has been changed to the Vagabond Library and is no longer a membership service. All links below will refer to this new resource.

Dear Friends!

About a month ago, we upgraded our website to create REACH, an online community that I hope provides a fresh perspective on the world and all of us who inhabit it.

to the home of ocean waves in Portugal nearly 100 feet high; from conversations with a national park ranger who revealed inside secrets about Mt. Rushmore, to the navajo shaman who took Cyndy and I by horseback among the remarkable buttes and mesas of Monument Valley, I’ll give you a personal view.

In REACH we hope you’ll find a place where you can learn about the people and history, the exotic food, music and colorful cultures we encounter on our journeys, doing it slowly, the way travel used to be, one day and one person at a time.

If you join REACH you’ll also have access to travel tips you might find useful for organizing and planning your own adventures, or maybe it’ll help you step away from the 24-hour news cycle and enjoy exotic adventures, and unique stories about why we laugh and cry, wander and explore.

And, now that we have opened our new store, you’ll also get special deals on our expanding and unique, and uniquely designed, products, some of them found during our travels.

Finally, as REACH grows, you’ll be able to interact with me and fellow curiosity seekers in chats and share your thoughts in the comments area about any REACH article, image or video. Soon new contributors will be coming aboard REACH. They’ll have their own insights to share: movie reviews by well-known film critic Drew Moniot and CNN’s former medical and overseas correspondent Jeff Levine, both fine and engaging writers.

The point is: if you’re the sort of person who wonders, and likes to wander; someone who appreciates learning what is out there, and who is out there. If you are curious about why we kiss or cry, or want to know what makes us tick, and how we got to that ticking; or if you simply want to Reach back and take a break from the stress, the dark news, and the fear mongering, then you have arrived at the right place.
